
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The City of Buffalo initiated the Allen Street Reconstruction Project to design and construct infrastructure improvements that increase mobility, enhance economic vitality, and improve safety. The City of Buffalo retained Bergmann, in conjunction with their partners Halvorson Design Partnership, Ravi Engineering, RK Hite & Co., and Highland Planning, to design the Allen Street Reconstruction Project. The design phase was overseen by a Technical Advisory Committee with representatives from the City, Department of Public Works, Parks and Streets, the Mayor’s Office of Strategic Planning, New York State Department of Transportation, Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, the Allentown Association, and various other stakeholders within the Project area. For final design and construction, the project was split into two phases.
PHASE I
Phase I included streetscape improvements on Allen Street between Main Street and Delaware Avenue. The City of Buffalo awarded the Construction phase to Prime Contractor Destro & Brothers Concrete Co., Inc. Construction Inspection and Support was managed by Bergmann and partner, Prudent Engineering. Construction was completed in 2020.

PHASE II
Phase II includes streetscape improvements on Allen Street between Delaware Avenue and Wadsworth Street. Construction is tentatively scheduled to start November 30, 2021. Anticipated completion by Winter 2022.
